Living in student accommodation is a great way to get settled into university life, meet new people and immerse yourself in the student experience.
No matter whether you’re an undergraduate student coming to university for the first time, an international student, or a postgraduate student looking to live in halls, we’ve got some great accommodation options to choose from.

Campus Living Villages
We work with our accommodation partners, Campus Living Villages (CLV), who manage two accommodation villages: Peel Park Quarter, and John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts. If you’re joining us from September 2024, room bookings will open soon. University of Salford offer holders were contacted by email in March to explain the booking process.
If you are applying for your first year at University, you can choose to live at either Peel Park Quarter or John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts. If you are a returning or postgraduate student, you can apply only for John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts.
Either way, you can experience student life with plenty of space, just a stone’s throw away from your studies.
John Lester and Eddie Colman
These are the closest halls of residence to our Frederick Road and MediaCity campuses, so they’re a great choice if you’re studying nursing, healthcare and media-related courses. They’re also just a short walk from our Peel Park campus, making it easy for you to get to the University, as well as Salford Shopping City, where you can do all of your grocery shopping.
John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts have a number of facilities available for you to use at your leisure during your stay in the accommodation, including a gym, reading room, common room and basketball courts. The accommodation also features 24-hour security, free Wi-Fi and parking facilities.
Peel Park Quarter
This village overlooks the beautiful Peel Park on our (appropriately named!) Peel Park campus, meaning you can be out of the door and into your lectures in a matter of minutes. You’ll also be a stone’s throw away from other campus facilities, such as the student store, library, sports centre and Atmosphere bar and café.
There are a number of amenities included, such as a cinema room, gym, games room and social area. Student safety is paramount to us: residents of Peel Park Quarter can access the accommodation building using a key fob, and there’s also 24-hour security on site.
In the main foyer, staff are on hand to help with any queries, as well as sign for parcels and deliveries.

Living off-campus
Private renting
Many of our students decide to live off-campus and there are loads of other options to find a great place to live. Manchester Student Homes offer a wide range of accommodation options from student halls to apartments and family homes. They offer student accommodation across Salford and Greater Manchester, and can help to find the right location for you.
They also offer free house hunting advice, keep you informed of your rights as a private tenant and only promote accommodation providers that meet their strict Code of Standards.

Other student halls
There are a wide range of purpose-built student halls across Salford and Manchester - many have similar facilities to our partnered University of Salford accommodation, such as WiFi and bills being included in your rent, on-site gyms and laundry facilities, year-round social events and study spaces.
Examples include IQ, X1, True Student, Riverside and Tramways, most of which are around a 15 minute walk to our Peel Park campus.
Commuting from home
You may decide that living at home and commuting to University is the best option for you, and there are plenty of public transport links to help you get to our campus.
Salford Crescent train station is situated on our main campus, connecting you to Manchester city centre and beyond. MediaCity is accessible by tram, or you can use your student ID card to catch the bus between campuses for free.
Our common rooms in University House and Peel Building on Peel Park campus, and in Allerton Building on Frederick Road campus have been created with commuter students in mind: they feature spaces to relax as well as areas to study, watch TV, and enjoy your lunch with friends.

Settling in
Whether you’re a UK or an international student, studying at university is a big change in lifestyle.
There are plenty of reasons why moving to a new city and meeting new people can be one of the most exciting and also daunting times of your life, so we want to help you settle in as quickly as possible.
From taking part in Welcome Week activities, to joining societies and socialising with students in your accommodation or on your programme of study - there’s loads of ways to meet new people. Remember, everyone else is in the same boat as you!
The University's student support service, askUS, is here to help you throughout your time at the University. You can also speak to our dedicated Wellbeing team, should you have any concerns or queries as you settle in and adjust to life at Salford.

Why should I live in student accommodation?
Student accommodation is often more than just a place to catch up on sleep after a hard day of working and studying; it's also a place to socialise, make new friends and relax in a safe and comfortable environment.
Both of our partnered accommodation villages, Peel Park Quarter and John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts, include amenities such as Wi-Fi, on-site social areas and a free on-site gym, as well as 24-hour security. These facilities are also a common feature of other purpose-built student halls in Salford such as IQ, X1, True Student, Riverside and Tramways.
You'll be able to view our partnered accommodation villages at one of our Open Days or, if you're an offer holder, at one of our Offer Holder Days.

How do I apply for partner accommodation at Campus Living Villages?
You can apply for accommodation through the CLV website. If you’re joining us from September 2024, room bookings will open shortly.
For Peel Park Quarter, you must register in advance before booking - offer holders were contacted about this in March. Bookings for John Lester and Eddie Colman will open in April and we will be in touch with all offer holders to let you know when this happens.
We recommend booking early to increase your chances of securing a room, even if you’re not 100% sure what your plans are yet. You'll need your student ID number to book a room, this will be included on any of the emails you've received from us about your application.
A deposit of £200 is required to secure your room booking, this must be paid within five days of booking in order to secure your reservation. If you change your mind, or don't meet your offer conditions to study at Salford, bookings can be cancelled without rental liability until Thursday 22 August.

Can I book a flat with my friends at University of Salford accommodation?
Lots of students can be nervous about making friends at university – but don’t worry – other students will be in the same boat as you, and there will be plenty of opportunities to meet people, for example during events run by our accommodation partners, as part of Welcome Week, your course, and clubs, societies and sports teams.
As you individually self-select rooms on the Campus Living Villages website when accommodation booking goes live, booking the same flat as your friends may be possible but will depend on whether rooms in the same flat are available at the time – unfortunately we cannot guarantee this.
Remember, for Peel Park Quarter, you must register in advance and then access to book will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so there is no guarantee that you and your friends can all get access to book.
Can I book a room in a single-sex flat at University of Salford accommodation?
Once rooms are available to book on the Campus Living Villages website, you’ll be able to filter by single-sex rooms when searching, to see if there are any available.

I have a question about my accommodation application
After applying for accommodation, if you have any queries about your application, you can contact CLV directly on +44 (0)161 850 6664 or email contact@campuslivingvillages.co.uk. The rooms here are popular and fill up quickly, so we'd recommend you book your place early. You'll need your student ID to make an application, which you can find at the bottom of any emails you've received from us.

I'll be commuting to Salford - what is student life like as a commuter?
You may decide that living at home and commuting to University is the best option for you, and there are plenty of public transport links to help you get to our campus.

My UCAS application states I want to stay at home, but I've changed my mind - can this be updated?
Don’t worry if your UCAS application indicates you wish to live at home – it’s no problem if you’ve changed your mind and are now considering student accommodation.
You don't need to take any action. This is something that UCAS include on the application form to gauge how many students are interested in accommodation vs commuting to study.
What contract length do I need?
The majority of students choose the 42 week contract which starts in September and runs through to the following June. Some students prefer to stay throughout the year and choose a 51 week contract. For students studying Nursing courses, we recommend you consider the 51 week contract.
How do the room types differ in CLV accommodation, and what are the costs?
The prices of each room vary depending on the room type, you can find out more information on the CLV website. We have summarised the main differences between the room types below.
Peel Park Quarter
| Room type | Description |
| Bronze | The standard across most of Peel Park Quarter, ¾ bed, ensuite bathroom and plenty of desk and storage space. |
| Silver | Adds a bay window giving slightly more floor space. |
| Gold | Additional desk and storage space at the bottom of the bed and an armchair is included. |
| Platinum | The same layout as a Gold room but with a similar bay window to the Silver room. |
| Diamond | A different room layout with additional furniture including a sofa bed. |
John Lester and Eddie Colman
| Room type | Description |
| Bronze | The standard across most of John Lester and Eddie Colman, a single bed, desk, wardrobe and storage unit, shared bathroom and kitchen with between two and three other residents. |
| Silver | Identical to the Bronze rooms but more recently refurbished. |
| Silver + lounge | Same as Silver, but the fourth room has been converted into a living space with armchairs/sofas and a TV. |
| Gold | ¾ bed, some built-in furniture and more recently renovated. |
| Platinum | Larger rooms and the flat is shared with only one other resident. A double bed and more recently renovated set of furniture is provided. |
I'm a care experienced or estranged student. Is there any additional support available?
If you are a care experienced or an estranged student, you may be eligible to apply for a Unite Scholarship which could cover the cost of your accommodation. Contact our askUS team for more information by emailing specialistsupport@salford.ac.uk.
If you need your deposit delayed until after your first Student Loan payment, or are having trouble finding a guarantor for your accommodation, then please contact the team on specialistsupport@salford.ac.uk as we can help you with this. You can make use of your accommodation year-round for the duration of your degree if needed.
Can I cancel my room once I have booked it?
Yes, for Peel Park Quarter and John Lester and Eddie Colman, you can cancel your booking for any reason and receive a full refund up until 22 August. To cancel, you will need to contact CLV directly.
After 22 August, Campus Living Villages' standard cancellation policy will apply, and evidence will be required for any request outside of the cooling off period.
Other accommodation providers have varying cancellation policies and it is best checking directly with them.
I'm starting at Salford in June 2024, is there still accommodation available?
If you’re joining us soon and still need to arrange accommodation there are still places available in Riverside House.
Our partnered accommodation, John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts, is now fully booked for the 2023/24 academic year, but please do keep an eye on the Campus Living Villages website in case of any cancellations.
Alternatively, we recommend contacting Manchester Student Homes, who offer free house hunting advice, keep you informed of your rights as a private tenant and only promote accommodation providers that meet their strict Code of Standards.
